Project P.I.T.T. on Steam Deck

“Can I play on Steam Deck?” got an official answer before launch: “Yes! Project P.I.T.T. is Steam Deck Verified, so you’ll be able to feed the Maw wherever you go.” — the developer’s launch FAQ, August 12, 2026.

What Verified means here

  • Runs out of the box through Steam on the Deck, no tinkering required.
  • Full controller support (the game ships DualShock/DualSense mappings too), so the Deck’s controls are first-class, not a mouse emulation hack.
  • The Linux build is native territory for the Deck (Ubuntu-class requirements with Vulkan recommended — see system requirements).

Settings advice for handheld

The developer’s general performance advice applies double at handheld wattage:

  1. Retro effect off — the PSX filter is the single biggest toggle.
  2. Details LOW, resolution down if frames dip.
  3. Keep the floor clean. Frame rate tracks loose-object count; a clogged lane on a Deck hurts sooner than on a desktop. The pause menu Clear Items button (update 1.0.5) is the emergency valve — no refunds.

Deck-specific notes

  • UI size: the visuals menu has a scale slider (added in demo 1.0.1) — useful on a 7-inch screen if the “BIG MENUS” are too big or too small.
  • Rebinding: since 1.0.5 every action rebinds individually, including scroll — relevant if you map hold-distance to the Deck’s paddles (controls table).
  • Sessions: Save Anytime + Steam Cloud means the Deck’s suspend habit is safe — the game also gained a proper “Save and quit” in 1.0.5 (saves guide).
  • The heavy late-game builds (magnet mountains, thousand-item combos for MEGA!) are where the Deck will sweat — dump in smaller batches, exactly as the achievement guides advise for weak desktops.
