Project P.I.T.T. Saves: Cloud, Recovery & Unstuck

One intern, one save. Here is everything confirmed about how the game stores your factory — and what you can and can’t get back.

How saving works

  • Save Anytime is an official Steam feature listing — you can save at will, no checkpoints.
  • Steam Cloud is on — your save syncs to Valve’s servers between machines.
  • One save slot. The 100% guide’s phrasing: one save, nothing locked behind a second playthrough. There is no save-slot management screen.
  • Update 1.0.5 added a proper “Save and quit” option and an “Are you sure?” prompt on quitting — before that, quitting was easier to fumble.
  • The save file format changed in demo 1.0.1 with compatibility preserved — old demo saves still load.

”I accidentally deleted my save”

The honest answer, in order of hope:

  1. Relaunch through Steam. If the local file went missing but Steam Cloud still holds a copy, Steam offers to restore or re-syncs on launch. This is standard Steam Cloud behavior and your best chance.
  2. Check the Steam Cloud conflict dialog carefully if one appears — pick the older/larger copy, not the fresh empty one.
  3. Local file paths are undocumented — as of August 26, 2026 the developer has not published where the save lives on disk, and community reports vary by OS. We won’t print a guessed path. If you need file-level surgery, ask in the official Discord where the developer is active.

Prevention: with Save Anytime + Cloud, the only real loss vector is overwriting by accident. Save before experiments like the LAG! achievement (1,000 loose items on a struggling machine).

Unstuck and other self-rescue

  • Pause menu → Unstuck respawns you safely — for clipping into geometry, falling wrong, or getting entombed in your own products. Added back in demo 1.0.1, still the #1 fix. Don’t restart the save for a stuck character.
  • Spawn safety: 1.0.5 fixed both spawning above the hole (falling forever) and getting stuck in the spawn tube behind a mountain of tools.
  • Lost key items (fuses, ores, pickaxe) respawn since 1.0.5 — ores go straight to the bank.
  • Clear Items (pause menu) removes loose products that make the game unplayable — no refunds, see performance.

Quick answers

  • “Can I have two runs?” Not through in-game UI — one save.
  • “Does the demo share saves with the full game?” No — separate app (the demo is its own Steam entry), though demo progress taught you everything transferable anyway.
  • “Walking feels delayed after loading” — that’s a performance symptom, not save corruption: fixes here.
